This article highlights some challenges for Brazil to build its 5.0 society, a concept presented by the Japanese Government in 2016, in the context of the 5th Basic Science and Technology Plan. This plan projects the development of science and information technologies with a focus on human quality of life. However, to build a 5.0 Society, we depend on political decisions and also a strong educational, scientific and technological advance. For this, significant investment in Education, Science and Technology of Computing and Electronics is necessary for the construction of an ecosystem in the IT sector, which is able to supply the devices and computational systems for the advancement of the different sectors of the economy and which provides the conditions for the country to transform our society into a 5.0 society, with quality of life for all citizens.
