Abstract

Connectivity is the main support of the digital era and the hyperconnected world, ranging from the Internet to access networks in business environments, homes, manufacturing, universities, and more, extending to the Internet of Things devices. This text comprehensively and accessibly explores the challenges and main techniques in the field of connectivity security in a globally hyperconnected scenario. The logical and physical interconnection of devices through various technologies, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, fiber optics, and satellites, increases cybersecurity risks, necessitating robust measures to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the transmitted data. It highlights the implementation of security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), encryption, and strong authentication. It also discusses the importance of network segmentation, virtual private networks (VPNs), and the growing role of artificial intelligence in monitoring and classifying network behavior for proactive threat prevention. This study emphasizes the need for an integrated and updated approach to connectivity security, which includes not only advanced technologies, but also governance practices and security policies that keep pace with the ongoing evolution of cyber threats.
