Call for Papers

Special Issue on Computing Systems Engineering 

The Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society (JBCS) invites submissions for a Special Issue on Computing Systems Engineering, a multidisciplinary field which covers modern computing systems such as Systems of Systems, Cyber-Physical Systems, Ubiquitous Computers, the Internet of Things, and Autonomous Vehicles. Many of these systems are embedded, often subject to real-time constraints, and most of them run a non-conventional operating system. In this context, the term Computing Systems Engineering involves techniques related to the safe, correct, and deadline-compliant development of such systems.

Topics of interest include (but are limited to): 

• Applications (including Automotive, Avionics, and Aerospace)

• Control and Automation

• Design Methodologies, Languages, and Tools

• Distributed Systems

• Electronic System Level, Synthesis, and Co-design

• Fault Tolerance and Dependability

• Formal Methods and Verification

• Internet of Things, Mobile, and Ubiquitous Computing

• Multiprocessor/Multicore/Manycore Systems

• Networking and Communication Protocols

• Performance Evaluation and Optimization

• Power, Energy, and Thermal Aware Systems

• Quality of Service and Resource Management

• Run-time Support Systems (including Virtualization, Storage, and File Systems)

• Scheduling and Schedulability Analysis Security

• Verification, Validation, and Test of Systems

• Wireless Sensor Networks

• Worst-Case Execution Time Analysis

This Special Issue will invite up to six best papers of the XV Brazilian Symposium on Computing Systems Engineering (SBESC 2025). These submissions must include at least 30% new material (e.g., new experiments, extended discussion, additional data) and will undergo an expedited review process by the JBCS editorial board.

All papers must be written in English and prepared using the official JBCS LaTeX template (https://www.overleaf.com/read/sgfkmgfqzbdz). Author guidelines are available on the JBCS website (https://journals-sol.sbc.org.br/index.php/jbcs/about/submissions).

● Submission deadline: May 10, 2025

● Camera-ready submission (expected): August 31, 2026
