  • natural language processing and computational linguistics;
  • language models and generative AI;
  • machine learning and deep learning for language processing;
  • linguistic resources, corpora, datasets, and annotation;
  • lexical, morphological, syntactic, semantic, discourse, and pragmatic processing;
  • information extraction and text mining;
  • information retrieval and question answering;

  • machine translation and multilingual NLP;
  • speech and multimodal language processing;
  • natural language generation and summarization;
  • dialogue systems and conversational agents;
  • evaluation methods and metrics for NLP;
  • explainability, fairness, ethics, and responsible NLP;
  • low-resource languages and language varieties;
  • NLP applications and tools;
  • theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches relevant to Human Language Technology.

This call is specifically directed to the authors of 5 papers accepted at STIL 2026, selected in order of ranking, subject to the authors’ acceptance of the invitation.

Submission Guidelines

Submitted manuscripts must be substantially extended versions of the corresponding papers published in the STIL 2026 proceedings and must include at least 30% new content.

The extensions must provide substantial new contributions, such as new experimental or theoretical results, additional analyses, methodological developments, extended evaluations, or other significant advances beyond the conference version.

The journal submission must have a title and abstract distinct from the original conference paper, explicitly cite the STIL 2026 paper, and clearly describe how the journal version extends it.

All submissions must be written in English and comply with the JBCS submission guidelines.

An invitation to submit does not imply acceptance for publication. All manuscripts will undergo the regular JBCS editorial and peer-review process and will be evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who did not review the corresponding STIL 2026 paper.

JBCS does not publish literature review articles, including surveys and systematic literature reviews.
