Special Issue - WebMedia 2025 - Best Papers

Call for Papers


The Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society (JBCS) invites the best papers from the research
track of the 31st Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web (WebMedia2025) to submit
extended versions for a Special Issue on Multimedia and the Web. This issue will feature
high-quality research reflecting the diversity and vitality of the community, showcasing
state-of-the-art innovations and applications in the field.


Multimedia and Web research focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of systems that
integrate diverse media types and leverage the global reach of the Web. As digital technologies
continue to evolve, the demand for innovative solutions in areas such as digital content distribution,
ubiquitous computing, and interactive systems becomes increasingly critical. This Special Issue
highlights mature research that addresses significant challenges and opportunities in the
multimedia and web domains, fostering critical debate on technical and social dimensions.


Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
● Multimedia systems and applications
● Web Engineering and Web-based systems
● Ubiquitous and mobile computing
● Digital TV and interactive media
● Social Media and Web analytics
● Accessibility and Human-Media Interaction
● Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Service (QoS)


This call is specifically directed to the authors of the 8 best papers accepted at WebMedia2025.


Submission Guidelines: Submissions must be extended versions of the original conference
papers and must include at least 40% new content to undergo a rigorous peer-review process by
the JBCS editorial board. The title and abstract of the extended version should differ from the
conference version, and authors must explicitly state that the submission is an extended and
revised version of their WebMedia 2025 paper. All papers must be written in English and prepared
using the official JBCS LaTeX template. Authors should also submit a cover letter explaining the
modifications and enhancements made in the extended version.


Important Dates:
● May 03, 2026: Deadline for submission of extended versions.
● August 03, 2026: Notification of the first round of reviews.
● September 03, 2026: Deadline for submission of the revised version.
● November 03, 2026: Deadline for the second round of reviews.
