Brazilian Technology Parks: Determining Factors for Company Attraction

This article aimed to analyze the success rates of Brazilian university and non-university technology parks through the proxy variable number of new entrants. The Stacked Data model was used as methodology, and structural and regulatory aspects of the parks were adopted as explanatory variables. The results revealed that the presence of universities and accelerators has a strong positive impact, attracting more companies to the parks, while regulatory aspects such as statutes, architectural design, and environmental licensing requirements appear to be barriers to entry. Additionally, older parks located in the North and Northeast regions also demonstrate greater attractiveness. The model explained 24% of the variation, suggesting the existence of other contextual factors not included in the model.
