Abstract

Process mining is an emerging topic in both academia and industry. Although more studied and applied in Europe, process mining has been gaining the interest of researchers worldwide, and organizations have been quickly realizing its usefulness. In this edition of Computação Brasil, we bring an overview of this area, with a bias of what we have developed in national research. We begin with a contextualization chapter which includes an infographic with the basic concepts for those who want to start their journey in the area. The other chapters lead the reader to some possible ways of developing the field in the country beyond the traditional applications by organizations.
