Process mining has been applied in a generalized way in business or administrative processes. its adoption in production and logistics or industrial environments is relatively recent. The ever-increasing need to reduce product launch times, optimize production resources, reduce costs, and increase quality, generates demand for continuous process improvement on an unprecedented scale. It is this scenario that leads to an increasing interest in process mining. In this article, we will present the typical applications of process mining reported in the literature and discuss the difficulties and challenges for the adoption of the technique more widely.
