In the current scenario, we live in an open world where businesses and organizations will only remain competitive if they learn how to develop strategies for interaction and collaboration. Although collaboration has its benefits recognized within organizations, its dynamics in ecosystems brings many challenges. This article first presents an investigation on collaboration in digital, software, business, and innovation ecosystems from a systematic mapping study. Challenges such as the lack of supporting platforms, the need to adapt processes, and social issues (e.g., lack of trust and leadership) were observed. Next, from the results of a previous exploratory study on a real ecosystem and its different perspectives, we selected the context of social innovation ecosystems and conducted a survey research with experts in order to understand collaboration aspects. Both studies allowed us to identify requirements for a digital platform and then propose a mind map to represent collaboration aspects in social innovation digital ecosystems. As a contribution, this work assists researchers and practitioners with an artifact to design and develop solutions in this context.
