People interested in learning the English language look for free
auxiliary tools, however, despite the large number of existing tools for this
purpose, learners still have difficulty finding texts and readings in line with their
knowledge of the English language. This work aims, through the developed
prototype, to complement existing tools, as well as to serve as a basis for the
construction of recommendation systems. For this, Natural Language
Processing techniques, machine learning algorithms and free datasets were
used to create a prototype for classifying the readability of articles present in
the Wikipedia and Simple Wikipedia datasets
