Abstract

Quantum computing challenges the security of classical cryptographic systems, motivating the adoption of approaches such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). This work analyzes the BB84 protocol using simulation, focusing on the relationship between interception rate and the Quantum Bit Error Rate (QBER). Results show a progressive increase in QBER as interception grows, approaching the theoretical limit of 25% under full interception. Intermediate levels are sufficient to compromise key security. The study suggests QBER as a promising indicator of eavesdropping within the simulated context and provides a reproducible approach for analyzing QKD protocols.
