Abstract

In 2006, Jeannette Wing affirms in an article  the importance of development of a basic competence in all students of Basic Education. This competence, inherent to the computer professional, was called Computational Thinking. The term gained relevance from its publication and several works began to be developed. In order to understand a little better how this term has been used and the meaning attributed to it, we carried out a review of the articles published between 2015 and 2019 in the Teaching Workshop on Computational Thinking, Algorithms and Programming (WalgProg) that takes place within the scope of Brazilian Congress of Informatics in Education (CBIE). The results indicate that there are still many publications that cite the term in a decontextualized way or attribute to it erroneous meanings, however, we could observe a growing concern to bring greater basis to the term when it appears at work, highlighting the interdisciplinary potential of Computational Thinking, especially associated to problem solving.
