Estado del arte sobre la educación en entornos inmersivos del Metaverso

Abstract

Este artículo presenta los resultados de una revisión sistemática de la literatura (RSL) sobre educación en el Metaverso. Se analizaron detalladamente 32 estudios que utilizaron entornos inmersivos del Metaverso en la enseñanza y aprendizaje en diferentes áreas del conocimiento, con el objetivo de comprender los objetivos, los recursos tecnológicos involucrados, las dificultades y limitaciones encontradas. Se destacaron estudios que investigaron los fenómenos de presencia y colaboración, así como estrategias de enseñanza en áreas donde las actividades prácticas limitan la educación a distancia. En relación al hardware utilizado, alrededor del 41% de los estudios emplearon dispositivos HMD (Head-Mounted Display) en las pruebas o en los entornos desarrollados, mientras que para el 59% de los estudios dichos dispositivos no eran obligatorios. Se identificaron limitaciones y dificultades de índole técnica, legal, de salud y bienestar. Se destacó el malestar experimentado por alumnos y profesores al utilizar dispositivos HMD, el acceso a software propietario en constante evolución y la dificultad para utilizar y configurar equipos y entornos específicos. En términos de oportunidades de investigación, se sugiere explorar el uso del Metaverso en la educación de personas con discapacidad, así como el desarrollo de habilidades blandas en entornos virtuales inmersivos, dado que se han reportado oportunidades de interacción y colaboración con personas de diferentes culturas y la posibilidad de llevar a cabo tareas complejas y creativas. También se mencionan las posibilidades de investigación en Educación en Informática en el Metaverso, desde la adaptación de entornos virtuales hasta la creación de entornos personalizados que aprovechen la sensación de inmersión como herramientas de apoyo para disciplinas que requieran el uso de laboratorios y equipos físicos.
